Transition

I'm going to dual post for a week or so to get the feel for my-expressions: http://thatwasmyfoot.my-expressions.com/index.html
Initially I think I'll like it better but the jury is still out. We'll see.
Check it out and let me know what you think.

"Just before Bill disappeared,"

So, another post of, well, trash really. I don't think it elevates anything to call them "found objects", they're still technically garbage.
When I saw this particular book laying on the ground, by nature I thought it was interesting to look at from a textural standpoint, which is usually where it begins. Any deeper meaning evolves or devolves while I'm behind the camera or studying it later.
This time however, I was struck by the text "Just before Bill disappeared,". For some reason it punched me in the gut and made me a little uneasy. I realized my mind immediately went to my son Nathan and it made me tense. Since he's been born, I've become overly sensitive to any kind of stimuli that conceptually puts my son in danger or takes him away from me completely. When I was getting my photo degree, for awhile I seriously considered going into forensics photography. Now, I have a hard time watching the news, I still get a little weepy when I take him home to his mom's, and the most recent story of the lost boy scout really had me by the short hairs.
Funny how things change.

Summertime Rolls

A little tribute to the coming month of July. My son will be staying with us for the full month, and that month is packed. Fun in the sun 'til the training wheels fall off.

Try the Killer

Across from The Walls prison unit on 11th street you can get arguably the best hamburger in Texas. With double meat, double cheese and loaded with jalapenos, The Killer isn't the biggest burger they've got. That title belongs to the King Kong. Eating under the shade outside the restaurant is the best way to appreciate The Killer, but if you have to get it to go, hurry home before the grease eats its way through the bottom of the brown paper bag.

Back to the source

Went back to Huntsville on Saturday with my son and my brother, in the hopes of hitting some of the creative hotspots from the college days. The elusive "factory" was re-discovered, only the factory was no more. All that was left were several concrete slabs and a lot of trash. Exposed a few frames, brought some of the more interesting trash home (see above), and indulged in a Killer burger from Mr. Hamburger. Now that I know this place is no more, I can spend more time, next time, trying to find the empty schoolhouse. Or maybe, just maybe, I need to go somewhere new...
